link hereI hate that I used to be Mormon. What a load of crap that religion is. All lies!! And you believe it so much with all your heart when you're growing up. Then you find out it's a madeup religion with just a self-serving, horny, uneducated manwhore as it's leader.
Now I see that there is actual proof of Jesus and biblical events that distinguished historians and archaeologists can point to. But that just brings up more confusion and definitely doesn't prove that the bible is true. It was written be a race of people that seemed to have skewed the truth. Do I really believe that God only picked one race (the Jews) to love and bless? Do I really think that because I'm a Gentile ("a dog") that God doesn't love me as much? Do I really believe that God only gave gentiles a chance at heaven because the Jews rejected him?? These things just don't add up for me.
I always pictured God as a loving, equal-opportunity God. So I can't just believe in the bible. Because it was written by men. Fallible, prejudiced, imperfect, arrogant men.
So where does that leave me? There is more evidence for the Bible than any other religion on the face of the Earth. But just because the Bible has factual people, places, and events in it doesn't necessarily make the heart of the message true.
I hate it that when I try to bring these subjects up with my friends they just blow me off. "Well, just have faith." Easy for them to say because they don't actually think about it!!
My pastor even told me, "don't dig too deep."
Now I'm at an impasse. I would like to be a spiritual, religous person, but really don't know where to start.
