I hate southern accents. Whenever I hear them I get the impression of a very unsophisticated, uncivilized, and possibly racist person. I encourage anyone who has one to do whatever it takes to get rid of it. Some speech therapy? I had to do speech therapy when I was in elementary school. Southern accents are rediculous because it's American english, but it sounds like you don't really speak it. People who learn English as a second language have an excuse. So do people who have English or British accents. A southern accent has no excuse. I can't stand country music most of the time unless the singer has a slight accent or they have poppy music. Country music for the most part is sad and makes me feel like the person is racist/incestual/nationalist and everything else associated with the redneck/hick/hillbilly lifestyle. I don't want to listen to music about drinking to solve problems being sung by some drunk, smoking redneck hillbilly who waves a rebel flag, hates all minority groups and engages in sexual endeavors with their mothers, sisters, and possibly dogs.
