I hate the nouveau riche. Yes, all of you self-made something-or-anothers who have the opportunity to dabble in previously exclusive experiences and taint them with your low class roots. It's not that I discourage progress, for success is commendable; however, these middle and lower class hopefuls still cannot, no matter how financially wealthy, dwell among the upper eschelons of society. I hate how people in America have forgotten age-old traditions of social stratification. Perhaps then we wouldn't have so many problems. Everything once reserved for the nobility of the world has now become tainted by Middle America's envy. Take, for instance, luxury brands. Now, labels like Gucci and Louis Vuitton are devalued because low-birth souls believe that it gives them class. Ha. They will go to any length to acquire and/or replicate these symbols of good taste and wealth, and simultaneously strip them of their former glory. Wealth is about understated elegance, manners and class, and dignity- knowing your place in society and behaving accordingly. America and many other countries have become dangerously tainted by classnesses and the rising faux-nobility. I refer to new money. Using newly acquired funds, they live a painfully gaudy and trashy life without having a grasp of respect. Take, for example, the founder of the Girls Gone Wild brand, who is the single worst exemplification of new money. Folks, be proud of yourself for making it, but you'll never be as good as old money. For that reason, the nouveau riche disgust me and I will always look down upon and loathe you. Try as you may, middle and lower classes, you are a plague feeding off of a brand of nobility that can't be bought for any price, but is in the blood. Mar 4 2:51 PM MST
