I hate dogs. Don't think that I am afraid of them, no. It is just that they are so nice, so always-pleased-to-see-you, always begging for a stroke or wanting to play... I hate my parents. They think they are such perfect, hard working, polite, little immigrants, who followed the path of the American Dream. But what's ironic is that they should despise that American Dream. Guess what Mom? That weed pipe you found in my room junior year is a product of the American Dream; You know, the American Dream of teenagers smoking pot in the alley with their friends. And that DUI I got last year? It's a product of the American Dream unleashing the powers of college life and alcohol consumption onto a teenager. I hate how now I have to redeem myself and reach for that stupid, unreal American Dream just to prove to my parents that I'm not a fuck up after all . I tell them I want to go to Med School or Law school; "Oh what beautiful goals and ambitions you have!! Only in America..." I fucking HATE organic chemistry and biology, so how the fuck am I going to be a doctor MOM?!!! I hate being aggressive and debating, while working 80 hours a week, so how the fuck am i going to be a lawyer DAD?!!! I hate that you think the American Dream will save your poor baby, that America's so called higher education system will turn this fuck up into a doctor or lawyer. I hate that I want to prove myself to you, nonetheless. I hate that i need to prove this to myself. So fuck you, you silly, silly dream. You're a burden, yet such a fucking inspiration. I hate that getting a post secondary eduation is costing me so much. I spent ~$6500 on school for this year alone, and that only includes tuition, fees and books. That doesn't even start to cover the cost of living. Over my 4 year degree it will cost me $26 000 just for a piece of paper that says I have a B.S.c.F.S.c. (forensic science), but really where will this get me. Nowhere unless I follow it with a graduate degree, which then i may get somewhere but i will have to spend thousands more dollars just so i can get a job that can cover living costs, and leave me with some to spare for a nice living status. However, i will have nothing when I am finally done my education because every cent I earn throughout this time will go towards funding my education and trying to live sustanably. And in order to do only that I must work throughout the year but still not be able to make enough for what I need.
