I really hate bioethics. For those who do not know, bioethics is the belief that as resources are limited, only the best and strongest are entitled to them, as they contribute more to society. They advocate denying nuitrition to handicapped newborns, for one thing, and medical care for the elderly (as they've already made their contribution to society and are now useless). Think this doesn't happen? Fact: organ transplants are often decided on who is "more deserving" than who is sicker. Someone with small children is given a higher priorty than someone who is single. Younger patients are given priority over older ones. Many doctors will tell you outright they're not going to "waste" a heart or a liver on someone who is over 60. Jan 17 10:13 AM MST
