link hereI hate being this sort of "latent racist". Let me explain: as far as logics are concerned, I'm convinced there are no human beings better or worse than any other. No religion, ethnicity, culture, color, nationality (or why not proffession) makes a person superior to any other. I absolutely understand that and in my everyday life I have no problems at all on practicing that. Say at school, I see everyone as equals with no effort. Say I'm at a friend's house, or any kind of non-threatning enviroment, I can relate to anyone without any sort of prejudice (I mean, not just pretending I'm fine with everyone, but actually feeling it).
But the truth is, when I'm walking down the street, if I walk past some gang-looking black guys, I get A LOT more scared than if I walk past a group of white people. I know it's wrong and it makes me feel like shit, because deepdown I understand thay are both as likely to attack me, and god knows if we weren't on the street, but rahter in a "safe" enviroment, I'd have nothing against them. But it's impossible to fight your own feelings. I guess the bullshit your parents feed you as a kid does influence you at least a bit even if you don't want to.
